Robbery (Dakaiti) card game rules

  1. Each player gets 4 cards and 4 cards go face up on the table. The rest form the deck.
  2. While the deck has cards, you draw up to 5 cards before every move, and hold 4 while waiting.
  3. Play a card. If it matches table cards, or the top stack of an opponent's collection, you collect them all and play again.
  4. A card that matches the top of your own collection can be stacked on it.
  5. If your card matches nothing, it stays on the table and your turn ends.
  6. Whoever draws the last deck card keeps going while they collect. After the next throw, everyone plays one card per turn until hands are empty.
  7. Cards still on the table when the game ends are discarded. Nobody scores them.

An example turn

The table shows 7♣, 9♦, K♠ and Q♥. Your opponent's collection has a 5 on top. You play 9♠: it matches the 9♦, so both go into your collection and you play again. Next you play 5♥: it matches the top of your opponent's collection, so you rob that whole stack and play again. Then you play 3♦, which matches nothing, so it stays on the table and your turn ends.

How Robbery differs from Seep and Casino

Seep and Casino are fishing games where you capture table cards by adding up their values. Robbery is simpler and faster: a card only captures cards of the same rank, and the twist is that you can also capture from your opponents' collections. That makes every collection a target, and turns the game into a race to protect your own stack while robbing everyone else's.

(Robbery rules in Urdu)
