Tissar Chausar: 10-card rummy rules and free online game
Updated 17 October 2026
Tissar Chausar (also written TC, or called 10-card rummy) is a rummy game played all over Punjab. Everyone holds 10 cards and races to arrange them into one Chausar (a group of 4) and two Tissars (groups of 3), helped by the Yarak, the wild card. On Taash Baithak you can play it free in your browser against bots, or online with friends using a 4-letter code.
Tissar Chausar rules in English
- Deal: each player gets 10 cards. The rest form the closed pile (band taash), and one card is turned face up to start the open pile (khuli taash).
- Yarak: one card is cut from the deck. Every card of that rank, in all four suits, is wild for the deal and can stand in for any card. Wild cards count 0 points.
- Melds: a run of one suit (for example 9♠ 10♠ J♠) or cards of one rank in different suits (for example 7♥ 7♦ 7♣). An ace goes low (A-2-3) or high (Q-K-A).
- Winning hand: 1 Chausar (4 cards) + 2 Tissars (3 cards each). At least one of them must be a pure run: a run with no wild card standing in.
- Your turn: take one card, from the closed pile or the top open card, then throw one card face up.
- Show: when your hand plus the card you took makes Chausar + Tissar + Tissar, put the 11th card face down and show. You win the deal with 0 points.
- Scoring: everyone else counts the cards that are not in a meld: A, K, Q, J = 10, number cards their face value, wild cards 0. The most anyone can lose in one deal is 80 points. A wrong show costs the full 80.
- Points add up from deal to deal, and the lowest total is winning.

Tissar Chausar tips
- Make your pure run early: without it no show counts, however many wild cards you hold.
- Never throw a wild card. Keep them for the gaps in a run or the missing card of a set.
- Watch the open pile: when the next player picks up a card, don't feed them its neighbours or matching ranks.
- Late in the deal, throw your high cards (A, K, Q, J) so you lose fewer points if someone shows.
- Two cards of a suit with one gap (5♣ 7♣) have fewer outs than two cards side by side (5♣ 6♣), which can be finished at either end.
(Tissar Chausar rules in Urdu)
